Ngorongoro Crater Safari

After 7 days on the mountain sleeping on the ground, we decided to relax at the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge for safari and relaxation. It was a magical place! The lodge was located right on the rim of the crater and stunning views. We earned it!

We spent two days on safari in the crater with our guide Twalib. It was amazing! We saw so many animals! We were also very fortunate to see black rhino, they are an endangered species and becoming more scarce throughout Africa.

Zebra stripes are like fingerprints, no two will be the same.

Water buffalo

On the prowl after water buffalo

Just hanging out.... with some lion.

This little guy walked right next to our vehicle.... with the windows open.

Hippos!

Elephant's tusks were huge!

Thousands of flamingos

Male ostrich skin turns pink to attract a mate

Do it like they do on the Discovery Channel

Warthogs look funny, but don't mess with them. They can kill big game including lions.

Blackface monkey

Hyena with a kill... or what's left of a kill.

Mufasa!

Ran into Eric, Jamie and David! The rhino spotting was so rare it attracted many vehicles.

Baboons

I was intrigued by the trees as much as the monkeys.
