We went through the motions one last time- bed tea, pack, chemical toilets, and wet wipes. The last breakfast was my favorite of the entire trip. It could have been because I knew it was the last breakfast on the mountain, or the fresh avacados and fried eggs. I was relieved that my stomach finally let me eat something after 24 hours of not being able to keep anything down. Things were looking up!
We left our final camp as one team. The final descent through the rain forest was gratifying. As we came to the end of the Machame trail we were greeted by our entire crew with singing and celebration. I was so happy to be off that mountain I cried.
We celebrated with cold coca-colas and Kilimanjaro beers. Nothing ever tasted so good. It was totally worth it and one hell of a ride!
